Unstoppable

My child is absolutely unstoppable. She's had strong will since she was born, but lately she's been learning how to exert that will - crawling all over the place, pulling up on everything, demanding attention, refusing sleep, rolling over during diaper changes (every time), etc. Every picture I take seems to be blurry because she never stops moving. The only time she wants to cuddle is when she falls and gets upset - otherwise she would rather be moving. She has also started throwing minor tantrums when she doesn't get her way. She's doesn't seem old enough to try to reason with her, so I just try to laugh (and take pictures of the cute fussy faces).

This is Roz pitching a semi-fit because I wouldn't let her eat the camera. It is only a "semi"-fit because she is always so busy that she doesn't have enough energy left to muster up a full fit. :)

Here is the series of events leading up to the fit. I was trying to take a photo of her quilt that I just finished, but she preferred to come eat the camera instead.

This all happened within a matter of seconds.

Also, I have obtained several bruises, a burn on my hand, and a bite on my finger in the last week thanks to my sweet little girl.

At least she's assertive. I don't think we'll have to worry about Roz being bullied anytime soon. :)

(I'm just waiting for my mom to read this so she can laugh and tell me how much it reminds her of me as a child.)

Hiking

I took Rosalyn on her first hike to Tallulah Falls this week. We got a nifty baby carrier for hiking that is surprisingly comfortable and sits her up high so she can see.

The only down side I discovered to this baby carrier is that Roz has free access to my hair and my sunglasses when they are propped on my head. She liked to pull my hair, almost like using riens to direct my movement.

Rosalyn got to try her first taste of ice cream when we stopped at a farm stand selling homemade ice cream on the way home.

We went with the Santiagos, and Mara's daughter Eva (3 years) liked to feed Roz her ice cream.

Overall, a very successful day. Even the weather was cooperative and breezy.

Food

It looks like Rosalyn is becoming a discriminating eater. She doesn't like to drink out of a bottle (unless it's a bottle of my water or Ale8), and she isn't fond of baby food from a jar because she's used to the homemade stuff. I buy the best baby food I can find (and we've tried several kinds), but I don't blame her for snubbing her nose at it because I think it smells pretty yucky too.

Here she decided to help Granny (my grandmother) choose what to order for lunch.

I like to think she's carefully considering all of the options and closely checking the ingredients here. :)

While it's no longer local for us, and probably not organic, I am proud to say she is developing a taste for Ale8 - at least for the bottles. I'm sure she just likes the color and the fact that she sees us drinking it.
When I opened the fridge before putting the Ale8 in there she completely ignored it. Then I added two Ale8s to chill and opened the door again later Rosalyn made a bee-line for the fridge.

The little girl knows the good stuff.
PS. Ale8 is a soft drink, similar to Ginger Ale, from Kentucky that we grew fond of in college.

Peachtree 2009

Here are the Peachtree runners this year. It was a nice race morning, with a breeze.

Uncle Clint helped Rosalyn model my coveted Peachtree t-shirt!

Future Peachtree runner! (In ~ 12 years!)

This photo isn't related to the Peachtree, but one day the week before Rosalyn was playing in the floor and scooted herself into this little corner. She played happily there for about 10 minutes while I sat on the couch and watched her / read my book, then she suddenly realized she was "trapped" and pitched a hissy-fit. :)

Martin Lake

Two weeks ago we visited Martin Lake to stay with some friends Corey knows through work. They had a wonderful spot on the lake, and we enjoyed or weekend SO much.

Rosalyn didn't love the cumbersome life jacket we made her wear around the water, so I'm thinking she probably likes the pool more for now. But she sure was cute, and she got to take her first boat ride.

Eric has a really nice vegetable garden going at the lake house, so I definitely enjoyed the yummy food!

I think Rosalyn just plain wore herself out shooting all over the house, then she plopped down on the rug and passed out!

Pulling up

Rosalyn has started pulling up, but mostly just in her crib. These pictures don't do it justice because she gets distracted anytime a camera is around.
We were so excited at first, but now she isn't going to sleep as well as before, and I think it's partly because she can use her crib as a jungle gym and has to spend a while playing and climbing (and she requires that one of us is present to witness all of this play time) before finally zonking out. That's making for some late nights for me and Corey. :(

Rozie's first Braves game

We've been so busy lately, I haven't made time to post all of the fun things we've been doing. Here are some photos from a Braves game a couple of weeks ago. Roz slept a good part of the time and was totally oblivious to the game, but it was fun to take her (not fun to get home so late!)
