Sweet Carsen turns 1 - first installment

Carsen turned 1 on Friday and started the celebrations with an antibiotic shot in each thigh.  Her fourth antibiotic in 2 months for ear infections.
Really though, we started the day a little after midnight because she was up most of the night fussing about her ear.  Poor little sweetie - at least she doesn't realize it's her birthday.

Here's the masterpiece she created on the etch-a-sketch, which I tried to distract her with while waiting to see the doctor.

After the miserable doctor's appointment, we napped in the car and then had a nice lunch with friends.  She didn't have any other symptoms (runny nose, cough, etc), so they didn't think she was contagious.  However, I kept her home from daycare because she seemed so miserable all night and in the morning.
After lunch we went to the store to get some snacks for her birthday celebration on Saturday.  She reached for this decorative squash as we were entering the store and played with it the whole time.

Then another nap, and we picked Rosi up early from daycare to play.

Weekend fun

Where do the weekends go?  I didn't think we had a busy weekend planned, but somehow it's already Sunday evening!
We met up with friends for dinner at the park on Friday.  Carsen and her friend Cece shared a plate of pizza.

Yesterday was rainy.  After a trip to the farmers market, we watched movies and played inside until it was time to get together with one of our old small groups.  This is the "married withOUT kids" group we joined over 5 years ago before Rosalyn was born.  Rosalyn was the first child in the group, and now there are 9.  Last night we were celebrating the last night couple to have kids will be having a little girl named Grace in a few weeks, bringing our collective total to 10 kids in 5 years.  Get together have gotten a lot more crowded.  And yes, this was the best photo we could manage.

Rosalyn had a great soccer game today - I don't think she scored a goal, but she did a great job running the ball down the field toward the goal and supporting her friends as well.  Soccer at this age is quite a hoot!

Rosalyn's artwork

Rosalyn has had some great artwork lately, and these are two of my favorites.

First soccer game!

I just realized this didn't post properly last weekend...

Rosalyn had her first soccer game yesterday.  She had a blast and was very excited that she had a chance to play goalie too.

I have some action shots, but they will have to be downloaded from the camera.  It's hard to get a good photo when all of the kids move around the field in one big pack! :)

Iffy and Papa came up for the weekend to celebrate Papa's birthday, so they were able to come to the game, and Auntie Chica joined us as well!

Carsen enjoyed eating leaves and sticks on the sidelines.

Letter of the day in Pre-K: R!

Here's the email and photo that I got from one of Rosalyn's teachers, Ms. Katrice, who she calls "my buddy".

"Rosalyn was our chef last week for our letter R day. We showed the children what ingredients to use for raisin muffins so I had to capture the kodak moment :)"

Soccer cutie!

Rosalyn's first game is this Sunday, and she just got her jersey today.  We're very excited!

Macon

One last post from our trip... We stopped in Macon on the way home and enjoyed some playtime, inside and out.

Rosalyn built a house and used cut up paper for siding and sticky notes for the roof. She hired Iffy for one hour (for $2, if I remember correctly) to help cut paper.

Carsen really enjoyed the kitchen...

And the drums.

Pool time outside was fun too!

Dance watch day

Dance watch day was at the end of May.  It was Rosalyn's first day back to school after we had all been out with a tummy bug, so she was still lagging a little, but she did great.  I didn't remove red-eye from these photos yet, but if I wanted to post them after finding time to remove red-eye, she might be in college by then.  :)

Catching up on old photos

I finally downloaded photos that have been on my camera since the spring, so I have a few old things to post.  I've taken lots of photos on my phone, but all of the photos on my camera have been sitting there since my laptop died and I couldn't get the software installed on this other computer so I could download photos from the camera.
Here are some photos from our visit to the Botanical Garden in the late spring / early summer.  These photos are not in the order they were taken.  Can you tell which was taken at the end of the day?  Hint: Rosalyn informed me that she had already used up all of her smiles for the day.
