Hard worker

Rosalyn went to work with me last Monday.  She's been asking to do it for a while, and last week seemed like a good time with the holidays.  In the morning, we visited a few garden projects, and the ground was really muddy, so she got to test out her new raincoat and rainboots.
Then we went to Emory for a little bit, and then ran a couple of errands before picking Carsen up from daycare.

Christmas cookies

These photos are a couple weeks old, but Rosi had lots of fun making Christmas cookies and apple cider.  We got home from church one Sunday, and Carsen took a nice long nap while Corey went Christmas shopping.  It gave Rosalyn and me just enough time to make Christmas cookies.  She helped measure out the ingredients and stir them in, then she floured her rolling pins and roles out the dough.
At first I tried to help, but she did so well without me.  Every now and then she needed help because she rolled it too thin or could get the cookie shape up.

After Carsen's nap, Ansley came over, and we all helped decorate the cookies.

They were delicious!  And we had so much fun making them!

More Christmas cuteness!

We took more cute Christmas photos at church on Sunday.  I love seeing Carsen in these cute dresses that I remember Rosalyn wearing!

Christmas program

Last Thursday was a very special night around these parts. It was the Christmas program at daycare. And don't tell the other parents, but Rosalyn was the star of the show!
Normally each class sings ~3 songs. They go from youngest (starting with toddlers) to oldest (pre-K). And the pre-K class also recites a bible passage about the Christmas story.
As you've probably seen in previous posts, Rosalyn has been practicing her songs and the bible passage, and she's been very into it.
What the rest of the family didn't know is that Rosalyn got to sing a duet with her teacher at the beginning of the program.

Carsen also got to make her debut. She's actually not quite in the youngest class that gets to perform yet (several of her friends are in the youngest toddler class now, but she's still in the baby class because she was late to walk. She should get moved up in Jan. So we weren't expecting her to be on stage at all, but they ended up letting her come on stage with the young toddler class since she's walking now. She promptly sat down directly behind a little boy, making it very difficult to take good photos. Then she joined us in the audience to watch the rest of the show. She had a blast.

Rosalyn and her class did a great job with their songs. It's amazing to see the difference from last year!

Carsen loved the tree an of course managed to break an ornament.

Adventure to Emory

The beginning of this week started out a little rough...
Carsen was up a lot Sunday and Monday nights, very upset and acting like she was in pain.  She just cut a new tooth, so I think that was the cause.

Tuesday I had a dissertation committee meeting and got home late (Corey picked up the girls), and in my sleep deprived state, I left my laptop at Emory.  I didn't realize until I got home, but didn't want to leave it out, especially since I wouldn't be at Emory the next day.  So Rosalyn was up for an adventure and rode back down there with me to get the computer.  She had fun an liked exploring this holiday display.  She took a ride in the sleigh, snuggled the bear, and gave the snowman a high five.

Holiday fun

We're getting ready for Christmas! Got our tree and decorated this weekend, sang lots and lots of Christmas songs, baked some cookies with Ros and Aunt Megan, and had family photos taken.
Still need to put up outdoor lights!

Rosalyn's peanut butter cookies with mini chocolate chips.

Carsen playing by the tree.

Messy messy sweetie! This girl loves sweet potatoes and broccoli so much that she lathers herself in them!

Rosalyn is very excited about singing in her Christmas show at daycare. Since she's in Pre-K, which is the oldest class, they also get to recite the bible passage. She had the whole thing memorized the first week and won't stop reciting it.
She also does a great job with the Christmas songs, but she obviously knows how to goof around a bit too!

Cuties

Fun photos of my cuties.  After spending Thanksgiving day in Macon, Rosalyn stayed to visit through the weekend, so Carsen had some down time with mama and daddy.
On Friday we played outside on the swing for a little while.

On Saturday, Carsen enjoyed pulling everything out of the kitchen cabinets while I cooked.

And we had some more outside time.

She sat by herself at the "big girl table" for a snack.

She's also been learning to finger paint and color, though she enjoys eating crayons more than coloring with them.

Rosalyn can home Sunday night, and we visited the Atlanta Botanical Garden with our neighbors on Sunday.

The older girls enjoyed helping Carsen... Whether she actually needed help or not

And we took a little train ride.

That night someone got really silly and adorable dressing up with her poncho from Mud and her wide-brim hat.
