Chicago - Wednesday

More time on the L and walking to see the sights!

We wore these girls out with the walking!

Rosalyn reads about Harriett Tubman at the Dusable Museum, the first museum recognizing African American history.

An interesting looking library that we passed (but didn't have time to go in).

We spent all afternoon at the Museum of Science and Industry and closed the place down. It was great - could have spent all day there.

Rosi and I played a game where you say one thing while trying to express a different emotion, and the other person guesses the emotion. 

I think this was a space flight simulator. I stayed behind with a sleeping Teagan.

I'm still not too sure what this has to do with science or industry, but the girls loved this fancy doll house that had been donated to the museum and restored.

Chicago - Tuesday

We spent Tuesday at the zoo, which is very nice (and free)!

These kids got ice cream treats after lunch while one of the buys went to the ER for stitches in his forehead (he ended up with just glue) after jumping off a landscape rock.

Quadruple BOB for some tired girls.

We made them run laps around a big tree outside the zoo to wear them out before riding back up to our hotel for dinner.

Chicago - Monday

Our second full day in Chicago brought more fun rides on the L.

We visited the SkyDeck at Willis Tower, formerly Sears Tower.

Room for 3

On Monday afternoon we had a special treat - meeting up with our good friends who moved to Indiana and drove up to Chicago to hang out with us for a day. We went to the pool at their hotel, and that night we enjoyed a pirate boat ride around Lake Michigan. Carsen and Vivi (who is about 6 months younger than Carsen) loved seeing each other and insisted on holding hands while we walked to Navy Pier for the boat ride.

After our pirate adventure, we found a fun fountain to play in.

Chicago - Sunday

On Sunday, we started out with a trip to The Bean.

Rosalyn enjoyed taking pictures of her reflection.

I didn't get a lot of other great photos that day, but we did get some good ones on the L. We mostly explored some of the parks, and our plans to visit a specific museum were thrown off by a public transit misunderstanding. But the girls enjoyed the L, not realizing how much time we would spend on it by the end of the week. 

We found a great quick but healthy place for lunch. Wish we had one of these in Atlanta!

We made it to the Museum of Natural History in the afternoon, just in time to get out of the rain for a while. 

Then we took a brief water taxi back to Navy Pier for dinner, and we watched a great storm blow in over the lake.

The girls also enjoyed hanging out in our hotel. Rosi developed an exercise plan (but quickly abandoned it after realizing how a day of sightseeing tired her out. Carsen very seriously enjoyed reading the Book of Mormon.
