Rosalyn and Corey recently enjoyed a game of jenga. We've had lots of fun with board games and card games recently.





Carsen enjoys watching and "participating" (getting in the way) as much as possible. Therefor, the best time to play games is when she's sitting in her highchair for a snack. :)



She has learned to ask for more food. This girl likes to eat!

Macon

The girls and I spent the weekend in Macon. We had fun visiting Iffy, Papa, Granny and the ducks.

We went to see Granny before lunch on Saturday. He was finishing up some bingo games. A man who also lives there came up to her and said that he wanted her to stop playing bingo because she always wins. She loved it.




Then we went with Iffy to feed the ducks. We took several buckets of cracked corn, plus bread and cereal. It was cold and windy but sunny. The ducks were hungry, and Carsen had fun watching them.

Rosalyn made sandwiches for the ducks with cracked corn and cereal layered on pieces of bread. They got quite a gourmet lunch.









Carsen also enjoyed snacking.






After feeding the birds we had an early dinner and went back to visit Granny. Rosalyn and granny played King in the Corner and War (card games). Rosalyn was proud to win King in the Corner, and Granny won war. Carsen tried to pull everything out of Granny's drawers and took a ride in the wheelchair.

Rosalyn serenaded Granny, and I think she was a little overwhelmed by the activity and energy level.

Today Rosalyn and Iffy baked some cupcakes. Then we went to feed the ducks again before going to visit Granny. It was a warmer day. Carsen enjoyed acting like a big girl trying to ride Rosalyn's bike.



The birds followed Rosalyn around the pond because they knew where their food was coming from!

Tooth fairy

The long awaited event has arrived - Rosalyn lost a tooth tonight, and we didn't even know it was loose!

She was eating a banana before bed and started crying. I thought she bit her tongue at first, but she told me that her mouth was hurting, so she pushed her teeth, and it made a pop sound and hurt. I thought maybe she popped her jaw and went back to cleaning dishes. Then she comes to hand me something and says it was in her banana - luckily I recognized it as a tooth!
A few of her classmates have lost teeth, and she's been eagerly anticipating this blessed event, but she didn't realize her tooth was loose, so it took us both by surprise. When I realized that the little hard thing she handed me was a tooth, I told her to go look in the mirror, and she got the biggest grin on her face!
Must shrieking and laughing and dancing ensued. Then we had to go show our neighbors who were thankfully still awake - more shrieking laughing and dancing.
Then we had to write a note to the tooth fairy.
















We put the tooth in a ziplock bag and placed it under her pillow with the note to the tooth fairy. She wanted to ask the tooth fairy if she could keep the tooth so she can show it to her class tomorrow.




When she finally got in bed, she didn't want to read a book because she was worried that if she stayed up too late, the tooth fairy wouldn't stop. I worried she wouldn't fall asleep because of too much excitement, but she passed out quickly.

Then it was time to play tooth fairy ( Corey had a late zoning board meeting and I was afraid I would fall asleep and forget if I waited for him). I only had a large bill in my purse, and we had already discussed giving gold dollars (like she gets for her allowance), so I had to steal from her allowance to pay her for the tooth, but hopefully Corey has more gold coins and we can replenish the allowance tomorrow. :)

Rough housing

Carsen is such a neat and tidy eater that She and Taffy have become best friends. Taffy follows her around the house knowing that even if Carsen isn't actually eating at the time, little crumbs of deliciousness will likely fall from the creases of her clothes, her pockets, etc.



My girls may not "wrestle" like boys, but they certainly know how to rough house. Sometimes Rosalyn's version of loving on Carsen is quite intense. Usually Carsen loves it... Until she doesn't.

Weekend

We had a fun weekend. Rosalyn got to go to her friend Clara's birthday party at a kids cooking school.



Then after dinner, she snuggled with daddy and watched a movie to make up for long hours at work during the week.

Carsen also had a fun weekend - I have some photos of her on a different device, so I'll have to post those later.

Reading

This is what I found when I arrived to pick Rosalyn up from pre-k today. She was reading a book to her class. Her teachers and I are still trying to figure out if she has it memorized, describes the pictures her own way, or actually recognizes the words - probably a combination of all three.
Either way, we're impressed and proud!

Carsen is learning to feed herself with a spoon

It's quite messy and entertaining. She starts in the next older class on Monday, where they sit in chairs at the table (instead of high chairs) and eat with utensils. God bless that teacher - she will have her hands full.
In other news, Rosalyn is obsessed with wiggly teeth. None of hers wiggle yet, but a couple of other girls in pre-k have already lost a tooth or have their first wiggly one, so she talks about it constantly.
