We got a much later start on our road trip than we had hoped, but we made it to Madisonville, Ky tonight. Less than 4 hours to drive (not counting traffic issues or baby stops) tomorrow to get to our friends' house in Indiana.
Rosalyn has been great - she watched a movie on Corey's phone (I take back all of the times I've criticized people for having tvs in the car). Later we listen to Pippi Longstocking on audiobook, and she's enjoying that! And she napped.
Carsen slept well the first several hours, but after we stopped for dinner, she was pretty cranky. We had just stopped at an exit to find a hotel when she suddenly passed out, so we got back on the road and went another hour. Night night!

Smarty pants
Rosalyn just corrected me when I read the Hungry Caterpillar. The book says that the caterpillar made a cocoon and then turned into a butterfly. Rosalyn pointed out that if it turned in to a butterfly, it must have made a chrysalis, not a cocoon. Smart girl!

Random photos
Here are a few random photos of my girls. It's nice weather now, and when the pollen isn't making Corey miserable, we all enjoy playing outside. Carsen seems to love it, and I remember when Rosalyn was little, going outside almost always calmed her down if she was cranky. Rosalyn's bedtime reading selection the other night was Butterflies of North America.
I worked from home yesterday, and my "first babies" enjoyed lounging around the house with me. Taffy looked so peaceful perched on the chair. I tried to get one of Jezebel too, but when I caught her dozing on the couch yesterday, she knew she wasn't supposed to be there and jumped down before I could get her picture.
Rosalyn is energetic, hard-headed and sweet as ever. She enjoys singing songs and reading books to entertain Carsen. She enjoyed showing off this tunic I brought back from Nepal last year, which finally fits her well.

Another version of horseback riding

Rosi has already climbed on her back from the chair, then she got off. She did it do smoothly that we encouraged her to try it again so we could video it. :)
A rare moment away from the girls
Last weekend Corey and I went to Serenbe, a sustainable farming community with a bed and breakfast, etc. We went for one night (my first overnight away from Carsen) while my parents stayed with the girls.
We were celebrating our 10th anniversary, which is tomorrow. It was great to take time to relax together and have some rare moments of peace and quiet. We also got to enjoy some nice views on the farm and go horseback riding. We're hoping to take the girls back in the fall. :)
