Steamboat day 7 and 8 (Sat & Sun)

We had planned to ski again on Saturday, but after a busy and fun week, we were worn out and decided to take it easy on Saturday.
Corey and I didn't recover from the exertion of skiing as easily as we used to, and keeping up with two kids didn't allow for much recovery time. So Saturday mostly looked like this:

We watched movies, read books and played games on the iPad.

The most eventful part of the day took place when Carsen and I decided to check out the resort's indoor pool. She was a little skeptical at first, but she ended up having a lot of fun. She really enjoyed standing on the side of the pool and jumping to me, so I think this summer if going to be fun, and I hope we get to enjoy a lot of pool time.

After Carsen went to bed, Rosalyn decided that she wanted to spy on me and Corey (while we watching tv and read a book). Then she recruited me to spy with her. She loved saying "let's put our plan into action" and "I've got my eyes on you." She also enjoyed practicing some "karate moves."

Today we had breakfast with uncle Ryan before heading home.

Corey let Carsen taste the whipped cream from his hot chocolate, and she kept asking for "mo, mo" (more).

And I think I know the exact moment she came crashing down off her sugar high... We were trying to check our bags at the airport...

It's good to be home!

Steamboat day 6 (Friday)

I already tried to post this once but it timed out, so I might miss some of the details here.
Friday was a busy day - we started with a walk around downtown Steamboat and ate lunch at a nice little restaurant there. Right after lunch we went tubing (at the same place where we had gone snowmobiling on Wed). Each child could ride with a parent. Both girls wanted to ride with Daddy - Rosalyn expressed this nicely and politely. Carsen expressed her opinion by screaming anytime she rode with me and being perfectly happy anytime she rode with Corey. So we traded back and first, and Carsen also enjoyed me pulling her around in the tube by herself at the base if the hill while Corey and Rosalyn went down the hill.

After tubing, we went back to our condo for an early dinner and a quick nap for Carsen.

We rode the gondola down and walked back to the condo - such nice views!

In the evening, we went to a place with ice skating and ice bumper cars. They had a little sled that Carsen could ride in while I ice skated.

It was a late night for us. Once we got close to the condo, Corey took Carsen inside to go to bed, but Rosalyn and I stayed out for an epic snowball fight (well, epic for a 5 year old), and she got to walk on some of the high banks of snow.

Steamboat day 5 (Thursday)

Today Rosalyn went back to ski school , while Corey and I traded off skiing and hanging out with Carsen. I skied in the morning and had really bad visibility. I accidentally went down a blue (medium difficulty) instead of the green route I planned to take. I survived but was quite tired. Then we watched Rosalyn do a few runs down her practice slope.

Tomorrow he gets to go down a bigger practice slope. She also got a cow bell today - I think it's a memento, but it also helps the instructors keep track of their kids if they go down a regular slope.

While Carsen and I were hanging out in the afternoon, I gave her some popcorn in a washed out applesauce container (needed something small and unbreakable, and the apartment only has big breakable bowls). She didn't think that worked well for her, so she went to the cabinet and got out the colander and transferred her popcorn to a bowl that she felt was more suitable.

Then after Rosalyn and daddy returned from skiing, Carsen decided to play a trick on her sister and his Rosalyn's snow boots in the kitchen cabinet. She loves having cabinets without child locks.

We went out to an early dinner at a nearby restaurant and enjoyed some life music. Carsen danced with Rosalyn for a little while, then I danced with them, and then Rosalyn did her own thing for a few minutes.

Steamboat day 4 (Wednesday)

On Wednesday we went snowmobiling. Uncle Ryan had the day off and went with us.

We got all bundled up and helmeted, etc.

Everyone seemed to enjoy it, even Carsen. At the end of our two hours, Rosalyn asked if we could go "just ONE more hour?"

We relaxed at our apartment/hotel in the afternoon.

Steamboat 3

On Tuesday, Rosalyn went to ski school, and Carsen went to childcare. Rosalyn loved ski school and did really well.

I love her reaction as she waits her turn during ski school but they called someone else to go before her.

When it was finally her turn, she rocked it!

Corey and I had fun as well. We were both a bit out of practice but managed pretty well.

We had fun on the walk back to our place.

Steamboat 2

On our first full day, daddy got to ski with Uncle Ryan in the morning before Ryan went to work, while the girls and I settled in and relaxed.
The girls had fun with some bubble bath and the jacuzzi tub.

Rosalyn really enjoys watching movies on an old iPhone that is no longer functional as a phone but works perfectly well to play movies. It's like I already have a teenager - she puts in her earphones and completely tunes me out. I have to start a pillow fight to get her attention. She found a quiet spot hiding between a chair and window to watch her movies without being interrupted.

Steamboat 1

We flew to Steamboat on Sunday. It was Carsen's first time flying. After some crankiness about not being able to run wild, she finally settled in for a nap.

Then the girls enjoyed sharing a seat and playing.

Carsen loved looking out the window when we landed (we were toward the back of the plane and took awhile to unload).

Uncle Ryan picked us up at the airport, and the girls got a little feisty with each other in the car. They are mostly sweet with each other and entertaining, but Carsen has started playing a little rough (pinching, hitting, etc), and it makes Rosalyn upset at times.

We got settled in at our hotel and enjoyed a little playtime in the snow right around our hotel.
